Jesus died for the inner cities too
published: Friday | September 3, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THIS IS an open letter to all those who heap scorn on inner-city people.

Jesus Christ was born in an inner city where ox and ass were blowing in his face. This they did to show, that after him many of us would be living behind zinc fences. Not all of us are criminals, thieves, nasty and gunners. We are birds of one feather but not flocked together.

Jesus did not die for Russell Heights and Beverly Hills alone. He died for the inner cities too. There are many doctors, nurses, teachers who have come out of the zinc fence communities. Give us a chance, we may enter the pearly gates just as you all. (Tears)

I am, etc.,

L. EDWARDS
