THE EDITOR, Sir: This an open letter to the Commissioner of Police: A VERY pleasant day to you. It is with much joy and pride that I welcome the promotion of an officer and a gentleman from the rank of Sergeant of police to the rank of Inspector. I speak of no other person than Harvey Harrison assigned to The Community Relations Section Area 1 Headquarters. I ask the question: what took so long? Sir, you have done a noble deed. I have watched this hard-working policeman perform his duties in such professional manner over the years wherever he is assigned to work. A decent, disciplined, honest, God-fearing, approachable, family-oriented, no-nonsense man of excellent character, an intelligent gentleman, a cop who commands respect without even having to say a word, a man of integrity. There are so many more beautiful ways in which he could be described, and I am sure that all who know the gentleman will agree with me and to sum it all up "An officer and a gentleman". He has served the Force with distinction over the years and in these times we need decent cops like Inspector Harrison to carry us through and to upgrade the image of the Force. Sir I have no doubt this officer will continue to contribute to the Force in a positive manner and that this promotion will be the beginning of greater things to come. I am, etc., A CONCERNED CITIZEN Montego Bay
