THE EDITOR, Sir: JAMAICA SEEMS to be going through a period of technical difficulties. The recent football match between Jamaica and Panama, the controversial crime problems and last but not least the Herro Blair saga. I overheard the technical director of our football team in an interview with a reporter stating that just like the Haitians the Panamanians will come trying to familiarise themselves in the early stages. It sounded so easy, weren't the Panamanians under-estimated? On the subject of crime, Jamaicans are having difficulties understanding what is wrong, or what has gone wrong. The criminals have difficulties understanding that if they continue their killing rampage they will soon run out of targets. Will they be going on a heavenly rampage when there are no more targets on the land? Touching on the Herro Blair saga, it is quite obvious that the clothes that women wear do have an impact on men but in the same breath men are required to control their urges. Examining it from a logical point of view, would the bishop feel comfortable if one of his neighbours saw it fit to steal his car that he worked so hard for just merely because it looked good and he felt he should have it? Did the Bishop forget that the said Bible points out that a man who lusts at a woman commits adultery even without committing the actual act? Had the technical team scrutinised the Panama team, it may have been a different result. If criminals could understand that they need Jamaica and their brothers and sisters for tomorrow maybe they would stop killing each other. It would be wonderful if the bishop had done thorough research and said "the skimpy clothing that woman wear is not appropriate for church attendance, and I urge men not to lust." I hope Jamaica will take the subject of technicality seriously. I am, etc., ROGER WILLIAMSON Rose Hall, Linstead PO St. Catherine
