186 in Clarendon shelters

By George Henry

SPAULDINGS:
One hundred and eighty six persons were in five emergency shelters in north west Clarendon up to 6:00 p.m. Friday evening. Checks by The Gleaner revealed
that from early Friday morning residents of Ritches, Frankfield and Silent Hill started showing up at shelters in their area, some with their own food and
bedding.

Up to 6:00 p.m. Friday 55 persons were being housed at the Ritches Primary School, 75 at Frankfield Primary and 40 at the Silent Hill Community Centre, all
of whom were taking precautionary measures as they were fearful that their homes were not safe.

Four persons turned up at the Spauldings Primary School and three were at the Sanguinetti Primary School after the roof on their houses were completely
destroyed.

Richard Azan, Member of Parliament for north west Clarendon told The Gleaner that shelter managers assigned to the various emergency shelters in the
constituency were out from early Friday to ensure the smooth registration of persons. He also said no food was being distributed by personnel manning the
centre as they were awaiting the arrival of the hurricane.
