THE EDITOR, Sir: MY THOUGHTS and prayers go out to the victims of Hurricane Ivan. This is a mad year for tropical storms in the warm waters of the Atlantic Ocean. I am a resident of a central Florida community and I consider myself one of the lucky ones who was not affected by Charley or Frances. I can, however, visualise the pain Jamaica is going through right now. During the ordeal of Ivan, I kept thinking about my brothers and sisters in Jamaica. I was there when Gilbert hit us in 1988. We had a young baby who is now 16. I know that if it was not for the help of my relatives in the USA, life would have been a disaster for my family and I. It is now my turn to rally the folks here to seek help for the storm victims of my homeland. Jamaica will certainly hear from me in the near future. I am, etc., HERBERT DAWKINS hdawk1111@aol.com 2216 Cerberus Dr Apopka, Florida
