THE EDITOR, Sir:

IN AUGUST, I was visiting Jamaica for two weeks. While my mother and I were travelling near Harbour Street in downtown Kingston, we were forced to pull over in an unsafe spot because our vehicle had a flat tyre.

Not even a minute after turning on our hazard lights, a police officer came to assist us in our plight. Within minutes of that, two more officers also joined us and shortly after, we were back on the road again.

I would like to say special thanks to Special Constable Smith attached to the Harmon Barracks, as well as Corporal Robinson and Special Constable Simpson from SACTF. These men have performed a small yet honourable task and deserve to be recognised for their commitment to keeping everyone safe.

I am, etc.,
