THE EDITOR, Sir:
I AM relieved and thankful for the mercy of God in not allowing Jamaica to experience the full force of Hurricane Ivan. The Lord heard our pleas and responded. It is only a pity that some people in this country are so heartless and cold-blooded, that during a crisis they would choose to loot and kill.
Citizens of Jamaica, we must take a stand and speak out against such evil.
As far as I am concerned, this country is ripe for judgment. It reminds me of a passage of scripture from Hosea 4:1-3, 18b-19, which says: '...The Lord has filed a lawsuit against you saying: There is no faithfulness, no kindness, no knowledge of God in your land. You curse and lie and kill and steal and commit adultery. There is violence everywhere, with one murder after another. That is why your land is not producing. It is filled with sadness... Their love for shame is greater than their love for honour. So a mighty wind will sweep them away.'
FULLNESS OF GOD'S WRATH
This sounds a lot like Jamaica, doesn't it? If we continue down this path, I am sure that we will experience the fullness of God's wrath. So I urge us as individuals and as a nation, to examine ourselves and to repent where we have erred. All hope is not lost. God promises in 2 Chronicles 7:14 that if His people, who are called by His name, should humble themselves, and pray, and seek His face, and turn from their wicked ways; then He will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. We need God's healing now more than ever!
I am, etc.,
