THE EDITOR, Sir:
I WISH to share a couple of lessons I learned from the Ivan experience.
I now realise that:
My neighbours are really nice people they knew my name all along.
I can make it without TV for a few days.
Two litres of water is more than enough to have a bath, wash your face and brush your teeth.
Contrary to commonly held beliefs, the criminally-minded will actually come out of
retirement during natural disasters.
Not everyone in a key
position should be given sole authority over a key possession (Do I get an 'Amen!' from
St. Mary?).
Strong leadership, adequate preparation, constant reminders and national unity can make
the difference between a hurricane being a nightmare or an
inconvenience.
I should not 'bet my bottom dollar' that the sun will come out tomorrow.
With a little touching up here and there, a police station can be converted into a functional maternity ward.
Without being too superstitious or paranoid, we should
probably refer to history to avoid giving certain names to hurricanes.
The Bible is right God does not treat us according to what our sins deserve and we should always believe in miracles.
