From a mother to mothers

THE EDITOR, Sir:
I TAKE this time to express my heartfelt sympathy to all mothers who lost their children during the passage of Hurricane Ivan,
especially those mothers of very young children. Being the mother of a two-year-old child, I can only empathise with those women who suffered such misfortune. I would like to make an urgent appeal to all mothers in Jamaica to do what is best to protect the life of your
children before thinking about anything else. We are entrusted with the awesome responsibility of these young ones' lives and we should honour that responsibility.
Mothers, in the event of any storm warning, once you are aware that your home is in
danger of being flooded or blown away, please evacuate...even if for yourself, and for the safety of your child. Once again, I cannot begin to express my sympathy to mothers who lost their babies during this time. I ask the good Lord to comfort you as only he knows exactly how to ease your pain. Best regards
I am, etc.,
