THE CORONATION of the 2004 'Miss Jamaica World' is still on for this Sunday, says, Mickey Haughton-James of Spartan Health Club, organisers of the contest. "All the arrangements are in place," he said.
However, one minor change has been effected in the programme. The show will begin at 7:00 p.m., instead of the previously scheduled 8:00 p.m. start. This has been done to accommodate those who will have to go back to work on Monday.
Those who had bought tickets for the show, previously scheduled for September 11 and September 18, can rest assured that they are still valid. "All tickets that were out are valid for Sunday," confirmed Haughton-James. Twenty finalists will vie for the coveted crown of Miss Jamaica World 2004 along with other prizes. The prizes include two scholarships valued at more than $1 million courtesy of the University College of the Caribbean, first class travel to the Miss World pageant in China courtesy of Air Jamaica, an advertising and modeling contract from Spartan Health Club valued at $250,000 and the Jergens Cash Award of $100,000. The lucky queen will also receive the coveted Miss World wardrobe, to be worn at the pageant in China later this year.
The pick the winner competition, a feature of the competition for a second year, allows members of the public to vote for their favourite contestant via voice and text messages. The winner of the pick the winner competition will also become an automatic top 10 finalist and receive a cash award of $250,000.
