Commending the media
published: Saturday | September 25, 2004

THE EDITOR Sir:

PLEASE PERMIT me to use this medium to pay tribute to the print and electronic media for keeping us informed before, during and after Hurricane Ivan. When we think of the media, we often forget a special group of persons who at times endanger themselves in order to capture events, scenes, situations etc. as they unfold.

It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words. Our camera operators and photographers deserve special commendation. Without them we would be left to conjure up all kinds of images when we hear of situations and events, and I am sure that the most imaginative among us would not be able to produce accurate mental pictures from the spoken and or written word.

Thanks to you all for keeping us informed and providing us with clear, vivid pictures as various events unfold. We appreciate you. Please keep up the good work.

I am, etc.,

WINNIE ANDERSON-BROWN
