Grateful to NWC
published: Sunday | September 26, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THOSE OF us who have experience d what happens after some natural disaster befalls our area, can attest to the long period of time it takes to restore utilities to customers. On the Monday following Hurricane Ivan's devastation, the Lauriston area of St. Catherine, received fairly good quality water flowing in our pipelines.

We are grateful to the National Water Commission for their work in restoring the supply so quickly.

Also, we thank NWC for their reminders to boil or treat drinking water with bleach. Our water was coming to us clear and of good quality to the naked eye. Had it not been for this reminder some of us might have been tempted to drink directly from the tap causing problems from water-borne diseases.

Congratulations NWC, we applaud your sterling efforts in restoring water to our area in so short a period of time.

I am, etc.,

IVYLYN GORDON (MRS)
