Titchfield stretch lead
published: Sunday | September 26, 2004

Paul A. Reid, Staff Reporter

WESTERN BUREAU:

FIVE SCHOOLS, led by last season's beaten finalists Titchfield High, made it three wins from three starts in the ISSA Pepsi/Sports Plus daCosta Cup yesterday.

Titchfield extended their lead at the top of Zone L with a 3-0 blanking of Port Antonio High while former champions Cornwall College won by the same margin over St, James High at Jarrett Park in Zone A.

Keneil Gibbs grabbed a hat-trick to lead Lennon High in their 4-2 win over Edwin Allen and ran his season tally to seven goals while Glenmuir High, who put six past Bustamante in Zone I, and DeCarteret, who hammered newcomers Belair 7-0, in Zone F also raced to three wins to start the season.

FROME HELD 1-1

Meanwhile, defending champions Frome Technical were held 1-1 by Knockalva in their Zone B game at the Frome Sports Club.

At least five games including two of three in Zone J were called off due to bad weather which continues to affect the island and play havoc with the schedule.

Donald Simms grabbed two goals for Munro College in their come-from-behind 3-1 win over Lacovia High while Balaclava won for the first time this season and only the second time in the past two seasons when they edged Newell 2-1 at home in Zone E.

Holmwood Technical's two-game win streak was snapped after they battled to a 0-0 tie with Mile Gully in Zone G while all three Zone D games ended in draws: Ocho Rios and Marcus Garvey tied 1-1, York Castle and Ferncourt were 3-3 and Cedric Titus and Brown's Town ended 2-2.
