Build local stocks for disaster relief
THE EDITOR, Sir: THE HURRICANE season, more than at any other time, raises the issues surrounding our preparedness for natural disasters.

Cayman and Hurricane Ivan
THE EDITOR, Sir: I JUST viewed some pictures of the disaster in Grand Cayman, and I cannot even begin to describe the magnitude of the damage. I saw destroyed graves, overturned boats on cars, houses with foundations only.

A new spiritual awareness
THE EDITOR, Sir: DEEPEST SYMPATHY is extended to all who have suffered loss of property or loved ones from the onslaught of Hurricane Ivan and congratulations to the agencies who managed the disaster so well.

A 'Day of Thanksgiving'
THE EDITOR: Sir SEEING THE devastation that has taken place in Grand Cayman, Haiti and Grenada, I have concluded that as a country we have much to be thankful for. It would appear that natural disasters have been a problem worldwide this year.

Message of warning to the nation
THE EDITOR, Sir: The 'Letter of the Day' in The Gleaner of Thursday, Sept-ember 16, 2004, captioned 'Overcoming the tragedy facing the challenge', written by the Rt. Rev. Dr. Alfred Reid, Bishop of Jamaica and the Cayman Islands...

The power of prayer and the mind
THE EDITOR, Sir: A PLEASANT day to all. I believe in the power of prayer. I also believe in the power of the mind.

Sandra Sewell's death
THE EDITOR, Sir: IT IS with our heartfelt sympathy, that we send our condolence on hearing of the death of our very dear friend Sandra Sewell.

A superb victory
THE EDITOR, Sir: THE SUPERB victory of the West Indies cricket team is a wonderful lesson for us as a people and a nation, especially in the light of recent disasters suffered.

You were my angels
EDITOR, Sir: I WOULD like to thank Carolyn Reid and Chukwuemeka, attorneys-at-law of Duke Street, Kingston; and Zavia Palmer of the Norman Manley International Airport Maintenance Department...

Residents of Long Mountain
THE EDITOR, Sir: I WISH to say thanks to the residents of Long Mountain Housing Complex who went to the assistance of my daughter and grandson during a fire at their home, just after Hurricane Ivan.
