Rise to the occasion Mr Shaw
published: Tuesday | September 28, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

MR. SHAW you are indecisive about running for the leadership of your party. Let me remind you that the future of Jamaica and the Labour Party depends on you. Polls show Mr. Golding as the next leader because your unwillingness to lead casts a shadow on your leadership goals and the polls in Jamaica.

Mr. Golding's actions since 1994 makes him a liability at any leadership level. You always supported Mr. Seaga. Like others within the party, Mr. Seaga's actions created area of concerns, therefore his (controversial leadership and) departure. Mr. Shaw, this letter is not about polls, it is about you Sir, taking Jamaica to her rightful place in this ever-changing world. Let us be one on this: you are qualified and ready for the job. We are ready for you to re-capture the economic progress that has eluded Jamaica for so long and to form an administration that will have no corruption and restore a friendly society. Power to Jamaicans.

Mr. Shaw, you are the hope and dream of the freedom fighters: the slaves, our heroes, the founding fathers and the great unparalleled people of Jamaica. So please, rise to the occasion.

I am, etc.,

RENARDO WILLIS
