Dunoon, KC draw
published: Tuesday | September 28, 2004

By Paul-Andre Walker, Staff Reporter

KINGSTON COLLEGE (KC) have continued to maintain their poor run of form in this season's ISSA Pepsi/Sports Plus Manning Cup when they had to come from behind twice just to earn a 2-2 draw against Dunoon, who were garnering their first point of the campaign.

Dunoon struck first in the 11th minute when a free-kick from KC's right flank was tapped home from close range by Kareem Forbes. KC equalised in the 28th minute through Tajh Fraser after Dunoon's goalkeeper Chevar Wilkie made a hash of a clearance, leaving Fraser with an empty net.

The second-half produced the same scenario with Dunoon going 2-1 up from a good build-up down the right flank that resulted in a picture perfect cross for Michael Blygen, who buried his 75th minute header beyond KC's goalkeeper Elwig Cameron.

FIGHTING SPIRIT

Nine minutes later, KC again showed good fighting spirit, if not good technical ability when their central defender, Andre Fletcher, latched on to a cross to send KC's fans into a frenzy.

Stratton Palmer, KC's coach, intimated that his team was under-prepared.

"The fact is that we have not had a training programme over the summer," he said. "You will hear excuses about bus fare, but the truth of the matter is that it's difficult to get into sixth form and students don't know if they'll be back, so it is only after CXC results that you will see them turning up," he added.

Dunoon's new coach Stanford Patrick thought they should have done better.

"We had a longer time to recuperate, especially since KC had just come off a 5-0 beating. We thought we could dominate the game. However, indiscipline took its toll," he said.
