Juvenile 'Labourites'

THE EDITOR, Sir:
IT SEEMS to me that the JLP, this once admirable party, has adopted behaviours that can only be classified as juvenile and
self-destructive. How does one explain these internal bickerings? Is this a party that wishes to govern, when their public utterances show deep rifts, cliques of all kinds, finger-pointing (the latest by Mr Pearnel Charles on the party's voters list for selecting a new leader).
This party is not ready to lead Jamaica and until this disgusting infighting, suspicions, 'crab-in-barrel' behaviour ceases, then and only then will the party regain the respect of those who seek to have a viable alternative. It is my belief that 'power-hungry' men and women, will never be good leaders, planners or strategists. It seems as if this party had and still has some of these characters, in prominent positions. Will they ever learn that Jamaicans at home and abroad are watching?
I am a Jamaican who wishes for a responsible government with a no-nonsense opposition, overseeing the well-being of the country. However, my instinct is saying that the JLP are not showing maturity for either position; can someone prove me wrong? Let's seek freshness new ideas, new blood; after all, we are in a new millennium. Take the past good and weave them with the new ideas of the new generation of ambitious and educated prospects.
I am, etc.,
