Orane inducted in PSOJ Hall of Fame
published: Saturday | October 2, 2004

DOUGLAS ORANE, chief executive officer of Grace, Kennedy & Company Ltd., was on Thursday night inducted into the Private Sector Hall of Fame at the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica's (PSOJ) annual banquet held at the Hilton Kingston Hotel.

Mr. Orane, a graduate of the Harvard Business School, began his career in business in 1971 where he served as production manager and then general manager for his family's business. He joined Grace, Kennedy as corporate planner in 1981 where he displayed strong leadership and management skills and was appointed CEO of that company in 1995 and then chairman in 1998.

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Orane credited his success to the "family life my parents created and the way the Wolmer's schools moulded me for adulthood." The CEO said the award was an honour to the many people in his life who were instrumental in his personal development, including his immediate family members and his family at Grace, Kennedy & Company.
