Wake up, open your eyes
published: Sunday | October 3, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

IT IS with deep regret that I write this letter. About four years ago when I was in Jamaica, I was concerned about the unqualified persons testing children. I realise it is worse than I thought. Now even colleges have people using cognitive intellectual tests out in communities who are not qualified to do so.

Wake up Minister of Education, wake up parents, wake up Jamaica and the Psychology Association. Are we waiting for a foreigner to come and tell us that what we are doing is wrong?

Let us open our eyes and properly diagnose and help our children.

I am, etc.,

MAISIE ASCOT
