Wise Move
published: Tuesday | October 5, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

It is a very wise move not to grant asylum to the Haitians. I sympathise with their plight just as the whole world is doing now, but where else in the world id doing an adoption? Send them home as soon as possible. They should be picked up and sent home just as is done in the USA and other coastlines. Support any other way we can should be offered.

Our first responsibility, however, is to hard working Jamaicans. Take a page out of the book of those countries calling themselves "First world'. They shun lproblems that will later kick-back into major heartaches for the citizens of their countries. We have enough problems in creating jobs for our people and our crime rate is already roof high. When you cannot give these Haitians jobs, food and life what will happen? Are you going to run a shelter for all their daily needs? Think on these things long and hard.

I am, etc.,
