National outlets islandwide are to be totally transformed.

Ayanna Kirton, Staff Reporter

TOTAL IS currently re-branding and refurbishing the chain of 21 National Fuels and Lubricants service stations it bought from local businessman, Roy D'Cambre.

France's largest corporation and the world's fourth largest publicly traded oil and gas company, in April Total added Jamaica to the list of more than 130 countries in which it operates.

The first of the refurbished stations will be officially opened on October 15 at Heroes Circle in Kingston. This station is one of 10 that will be operated by Total in Kingston and St. Andrew, which is the leading location in terms of volumes sold. Luc Maiche, managing director for Total Jamaica said the company has plans to operate approximately 30 gas stations by 2005 as part of its long-term goal to create a network of gas stations across the island.

PARTNERSHIP

Total has also partnered with local automotive product distributor, Tropical Battery to provide its customers with the added convenience of battery checks and changes as well as tyres at each of its service stations.

Total's foray into the Caribbean region began in the French territories of Martinique and Guadeloupe. The company later expanded to Cuba and French Guiana and also has operations in El Salvador and Honduras.

Total operates approximately 17,000 service stations worldwide mostly in Europe and Africa under the Total and Elf brands. The company employs 110,783 employees and its operations cover the entire spectrum of the oil and gas business. It is also a chemicals manufacturer.
