Power lines still down in New Forest
published: Wednesday | October 6, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I WOULD like to address the report that I heard over the radio by JPS. representative that 80 per cent have got back light. Well, as a resident of southern Manchester in New Forest, I have seen where the majority of the power lines are still down at this moment. Especially on the Port Kaiser road there are still seven light posts laying on the ground.

Some of these light posts block the entrance of people's driveways to their houses. Due to this we are having problems storing meat kind and wearing clothes without them being pressed.

The NWC station is unable to pump water to the surrounding communities because the current which supplies the well comes from Bull Savannah (St. Elizabeth) through a hill.

Even up until this moment we have not seen any sign of work to give us confidence of light returning to us soon. Please can someone help the 20 per cent that need light as well?

I am, etc.,

GODFREY WILLIAMS
