Show us some mercy!
published: Friday | October 8, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I WISH to make a plea to the university administration to extend the deadline for the payment of fees. There are so many competent and hardworking students who are determined to acquire a tertiary education and are just not able to afford it.

Why should money be a deterrent to gain higher education? These less fortunate students should be looked out for and necessary arrangements made, so that they too will have a chance to gain upward social mobility. Who is looking out for the less fortunate? No one!

It seems the poor will always be poor. Mr. Vice Principal who seems to be so adamant in his statements of not extending the deadline, where is your heart, or am I expecting too much from a fellow human being.

I am, etc.,

TANEISHA JAMES

Disgruntled student
