Mainland to renovate sections of Ensom City Primary
published: Thursday | October 14, 2004

HARDWARE GIANT Mainland International has embarked on a construction project at the Ensom City Primary School to renovate the sections that were badly damaged by Hurricane Ivan.

The school, which was adopted by Mainland in 2001, was severely affected by the ravages of the hurricane, losing a roof and dismantling of several classrooms.

The company has committed over $1 million in materials to complete the project. In addition Mainland will provide the required labour to the school.

"Ensom City Primary has been blessed," said Stanley Jones, principal of the Ensom City Primary. "We are appreciative of all the assistance that Mainland has given and want to thank the company for its involvement at this time when we are still trying to recover from the hurricane."

Garth Walker, group executive at Mainland International, was on hand to commence construction at the school and promised that it would be completed within a week.

"We have always had a good relationship with Ensom City Primary, this is just another way for us to show our support and lend a helping hand," Mr. Walker said. "Our regular programme with the school will continue and will not be affected by this new work."

Mainland has financed and provided material for a number of ventures at the school, the most recent of which was the refurbishing of the library. Mainland has also undertaken to rebuild a large retaining wall that was totally destroyed by the hurricane.
