JANET DOUGLAS, a 31-year-old cosmetologist of Ziadie Gardens, St. Andrew, who is accused of murdering a policeman's wife in November 2001, is to return to the Home Circuit Court tomorrow when a trial date will be set.
Douglas is charged with the murder of 32-year-old dressmaker, Isolyn McGill, of Hayes, Clarendon.
MULTIPLE STAB WOUNDS
Mrs. McGill left her home about 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 24, 2001, to purchase household items at a supermarket in May Pen. Her body was discovered hours later with multiple stab wounds to the hand, face and back on a dirt road in Hilly Field district, off the Bustamante Highway, Clarendon.
The Crown is alleging that Douglas murdered her. The Crown is further alleging that the motive for the murder was jealousy and obsession because Douglas was involved in an intimate relationship with the deceased's husband.
Douglas, who is being represented by attorney-at-law Ravil Golding, was remanded in custody yesterday when she appeared before Mrs. Justice Hazel Harris.
The case was transferred last month from the Clarendon Circuit Court to Kingston.
