She'll make us proud
published: Sunday | October 17, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

AFTER READING so many negatives about our present Miss Jamaica (World), it was like a breath of fresh air, and a relief, to read something positive, written by Howard Hamilton QC 'Miss Jamaica Tops'.

This woman, Miss Toyloy, is not only attractive but also intelligent, witty and cultured, a well-rounded person, an ambassador, and a true representative of our people.

It is unfortunate, but many of our people are still brainwashed with the browning mentality, and they can only identify beauty with thin lips, straight nose and a lighter shade of pale to white, as the criteria for beautiful women, and that is what makes beauty queens.

Our women of colour are some of the most beautiful in this world, this side of Eden and second to none. Miss Toyloy's beauty goes way beyond the skin and like many of us, she is a true African, born in Jamaica. She also fits in well with our Motto, "Out of Many One People". This woman of beauty will make us proud, win or lose. So, good luck and God bless you.

I am etc.,
