By Howard Walker, Staff ReporterARNETT Gardens scored a comprehensive 3-0 win over Rivoli United in yesterday's Wray and Nephew National Premier League game at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex, to go joint top of the standings.
Andrew Chisholm scored his first goal for his new club in the 29th minute, which was followed by strikes from Daniel Shaw and Kwame Richardson in the 38th and 59th minutes respectively, giving Arnett their third win from four games.
Harbour View, the only side with a 100 percent win record, are on nine points from three games. They were in Monsterrat yesterday, playing a second-leg match against Ideal Football Club in CONCACAF Champions Cup qualifiers, where they won the first leg 14-1 on Friday.
EXCELLENT TEAM GAME
Arnett's assistant coach, Michael Tulloch, said his team played "an excellent team game and everybody played for each other.
"I think we could have scored more but we got a little complacent. We are still gelling," he added.
Meanwhile, a depressed-looking Rivoli coach, Bradley Stewart, could not hide his disappointment with the result.
"Of course I am disappointed. We need to improve drastically defensively. We didn't support each other.
"We had good scoring opportunities but McLeish didn't give up any second chances," Stewart pointed out.
The slick-moving Arnett Gardens dominated from the start through Cornel Chin-Sue, Daniel Shaw, the pencil-slim Jonathan Williams and Kwame Richardson, and it was no surprise when they opened the scoring in the 29th minute.
Andrew Chisholm, formerly of Tivoli Gardens, 'ghosted' in-between two defenders to head home a Kwame Richardson corner, giving Moschell Nelson no chance in goal.
Chisholm was substituted immediately after, suffering from a badly bruised back in an earlier clash with Marlon Edwards.
DEFENSIVE ERRORS
It was 2-0 in the 38th minute after a series of defensive errors allowed the ball to find its way to Daniel Shaw, who placed his shot wide of the diving Nelson in goal. It was a richly deserved goal as Arnett Gardens were playing some beautiful football and could have scored more before the end of the first half.
Arnett wrapped up the match in the 59th minute after a torrid shot from substitute Ray Graham was parried into the path of, Richardson who volleyed home from an acute angle, past the hapless Nelson in goal.
Thenceforth, it was an afternoon stroll for the free-flowing Arnett Gardens who have set up a mouth-watering top-of-the-table clash against Harbour View next week.
In the JFF Under-21 league curtain-raiser, Rivoli came from behind to beat Arnett Gardens 2-1.
