Music and homosexuals
published: Tuesday | October 26, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I CANNOT understand the issues and conflicts between our dancehall artistes and the homosexual community. There should be no conflict whatsoever. Who gave homosexuals the power to even defend their actions? Who gave them the right to even think that our artistes will sit back and let them plague our society with their immoralities and say nothing about it. I stand strongly behind our artistes to continue and forever sing against homosexuals, not violent lyrics, I must say.

The lyrics can easily be structured in a non-violent way and still lash out against gays and send that strong, positive message to our youth.

Music is a universal language and it's a powerful tool of communication, music gets the message across. I say use it to edify, use it to preach truth and righteousness. It's sad when one's career is on the line, but I know the artistes are talented and creative enough to get around the audacious response of the gays.

I am, etc.,
