Tomorrow is d-day for farmers
published: Thursday | October 28, 2004

FARMERS HAVE been given until tomorrow to file reports of damage incurred as a result of Hurricane Ivan, according to the Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA).

RADA has reported that farmers have completed more than 37,000 assessment forms so far, which have been sent to the Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) for processing.

The Office of National Reconstruction (ONR), working in tandem with the EOJ, will be presenting the assessment forms to the Ministry of Finance, which will be responsible for preparing relief vouchers. Albert Shand, RADA's Executive Director, said that farmers would be able to use the vouchers to purchase agricultural supplies at any local farm store. He noted however, that the vouchers will not be exchangeable for cash.

Farmers should file their reports at RADA offices across the island.
