Misuse of the Half-Way Tree bus bay
published: Saturday | October 30, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

ONCE AGAIN I'm forced to use this medium to make an appeal to the Transport Authority and the police about the blatant misuse of the Half-Way Tree bus bay during the evenings by the executive coasters attached to the National Transport Co-Op and other mini bus drivers when both police and personnel from the Transport Authority are off duty.

Why is it that these drivers of the coaster buses (chief among them drivers of Executive coaster) feel that they should plant their buses smack in the middle of the bus bay, blocking the free flow of traffic, deliberately blocking the drivers employed to the Jamaica Urban Transit Company. If the stoplight is on red, I can understand the non movement of these coaster buses, but what mi can't understand is, why dem sit idle when the light changes to green? Is it that they don't know the difference between red and green lights? Oh please...give the J.U.T.C. drivers and its passengers a break.

Come on relevant authorities under whom the bus bay's portfolio falls, wake up and take serious action against these drivers, nuh mek dem block the free flow of traffic in di bus bay.

To the drivers of the JUTC buses, just gwaan exercise and maintain your patience, nuh badda get caught up in no tracing match with the "loadermen", "backupmen" and drivers of these coasters, and to mi fellow passengers... maintain the peace on the bus.

I am, etc.,

H.ST.A. DAWKINS
