DETECTIVES FROM the Criminal Investigation Bureau headquarters are acting on a number of leads as they continue their investigations into the death of Julius Nelson, the son of well-known trade union leader and Jamaica Labour Party Senator, Dwight Nelson.
Nelson, 30, was found dead by the police at his Brompton Road Apartment, Kingston 5, about 1:00 p.m. last Saturday after his friends reported that they were unable to contact him since Friday.
The Constabulary Communica-tion Network had earlier identified robbery as the motive for the killing as Mr. Nelson's Honda CR-V and a number of appliances were missing. Meanwhile, friends of relatives of the deceased are still in shock over the murder.
Contacted yesterday, Karl Samuda, the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) general secretary, said the party was saddened by the death of Mr. Nelson, who was also a member of Young Jamaica, an arm of the JLP.
Mr. Samuda said he had visited with Senator Nelson to express the party's condolences and noted that although the Senator was bereaved and at times tearful, he was strong enough to participate in discussions relating to private and public matters.
