MIAMI, Florida, CMC:
JAMAICAN RACEHORSE trainers Kirk Ziadie and Robert Hale shared two wins in Calder horseracing on Thursday afternoon.
Hale opened his account for the new Tropical Calder meet that started last weekend when his six-year-old gelding Marco's Word captured the third race, while Ziadie notched his second win this week through ninth-race winner D'artagnan's Spirit.
In the US$32,000 third race, Hale's Marco's Word produced a strong finish under jockey Aurelio Toribo to win the one mile event by one length as the 8-5 second favourite, stopping the clock at one minute 36.82 seconds. Ziadie climbed to the top of the trainers' standings when D'artagnan's Spirit won the ninth race with jockey Wanderley De'Oliveira up.
D'artagnan's Spirit showed good speed and logged a 6 3/4-length victory in the six-furlong sprint at odds of 8-1.
