Charles faction demanding retraction
published: Wednesday | November 3, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

AS A member of the Pearnel Charles campaign, I must strongly on his behalf demand a withdrawal of the story on Page A3 of your paper of the 26th October, 2004.

Mr. Charles categorically denies that any such incident took place.

We also call for a similar clarification by the Chairman, Bruce Golding, the Deputy Leader James Robertson and the East Portland Chairman Daryl Vaz, who were all present and who witnessed Mr. Charles' arrival after the Party's anthem had been sung.

For the record, because it has been difficult for the Charles campaign to obtain a list of delegates and also have the MP caretakers assemble their delegates. The campaign has had to devise many approaches to reach out to party delegates. It must be noted that caretakers and Members of Parliament all expect the assembly of delegates to be paid for by the campaign; a cost which the Charles campaign finds sometimes difficult to fund.

I am, etc.,

MIKE HENRY (M.P.)
