Westmoreland honours its outstanding residents

Westmoreland:

CHAIRMAN AND managing director of the Gleaner Company, Oliver Clarke, was among nine outstanding Westmorelites honoured by the Jamaica Homecoming 2004 committee at its awards ceremony held at the Negril Hills Golf Club in Westmoreland last week.

Mr. Clarke, who copped the award in the field of economics, was cited for his significant contribution to nation building and as a role model. "You have been recognised by your peers as a determined individual who has become a successful and unselfish community-oriented citizen of the parish," the citation notes.

The honouree was unavoidably absent, but his nephew Eric Clarke received the
citation and award on his behalf.

Other Westmorelites honoured by the committee were Kissock Laing, Reverend Hartley Perrin, Ruddy Spencer, Fred Hamaty, Ryland Campbell, Clarence Clarke, Petronella Smith and Laurette Reid.
