Still waiting on the RGD
published: Wednesday | November 10, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

WE REGRET the delay experienced in obtaining the birth certificate for Venice N. McDonald. The Family Court on King Street made an order for Declaration of Paternity concerning Miss Venice McDonald. This document was sent to the Registrar General several months ago. A facsimile (fax) sent within the past 12 days was acknowledged by Dr. Holness' secretary at the Records Office.

A copy of the fax was taken to the Records Office by Miss McDonald, and after waiting for over half an hour, she was told that the certificate was not yet ready.

The U.S. Embassy needs this document urgently with a view to issuing a visa to her to visit her mother whom she has not seen since the death of her father several years ago.

I do ask that this letter be published on her behalf for Mr. Holness' attention so that the great inconvenience and embarrassment to this young lady as a result of the non-issue of the required document be alleviated.

I am, etc.,

ALONZO D. MANNING

Attorney-at-Law

51A Duke Street

Kingston
