published: Wednesday | November 10, 2004

ANDREW MAHFOOD, Wisynco Group director of finance, has urged students of the Donald Quarrie High School in east Kingston to seize the opportunity to obtain a proper education in order to secure their future as productive citizens and contribute to nation building.

Mr. Mahfood, who was speaking recently at a ceremony to unveil a school sign donated by Wisynco Trading Limited, told the youngsters "use the opportunity you have now to study hard and work hard so that when you graduate you can get a good job and make all Jamaica proud."

SENSE OF PRIDE

"Don't allow the opportunity for you to get a good education pass you by," he advised. Regarding the sign, which stands over 20 feet high and advertises Donald Quarrie High School and Evening Institute, Mr. Mahfood said the company was pleased to be able to assist to erect the sign to help inspire a sense of pride among the students and teachers at the school.

"It is because of our Jamaican brands Bigga and WATA that we are able to support you," he observed.

Chairman of the school, Lloyd Richards, expressed gratitude to Wisynco Trading, noting that the sign had enhanced the school significantly and was instrumental in promoting its evening institute to persons who were unaware that evening classes were being held.

The school currently has 1,800 students enrolled in regular classes and approximately 120 persons in the evening institute, which caters to persons from communities such as Rockfort, Harbour View, Bull Bay and Port Royal.
