a 'Goddy' performance
published: Thursday | November 18, 2004

By Rasbert Turner, Gleaner Writer

MANY PERSONS flocked the Emmanuel Apostolic Church in Portmore, St. Catherine on Saturday, November 13 for the 'Joshua Generation Part II' concert.

The concert was held in order to raise funds for Howard 'Goddy Goddy' Reynolds' surgery to remove a painful tumour behind his ears. The night began with five-year-old Oshine Levy, the daughter of 2004 gospel song winner Lubert Levy.

Oshine gave a splendid rendition of My Redeemer Lives. Her pint-sized body belied her voice control. She lifted the place to a spiritual high, which found hundreds of mostly young attendees dancing, waving flags and singing along. The command of her performance was highlighted by MC Garfield, who reminded the audience that "A child shall lead them."

Lubert Levy gave a 'reggae-ligious' version of Toots Hibberts' 54/46, along with a few other songs, before departing the stage. Lisa Grant stoked the musical fire, which was already lit, with a medley of songs, including Lucifer Your Throne Gone Down, Lift Jesus Higher, Satan You're A Wanted Man and Brimstone and fire. Jason Martin followed, ministering in songs to the audience during his twenty minutes on stage.

The introduction of K.C. Davis from Love 101 FM kept the fire burning. He introduced the Catalyst Crew, who delivered a total package of religious music in true 'Joshua Generation' style and, in the process, getting many forwards from those in attendance.

BLISTERING SET

The scene was no different for Mr. Gallimore, who came and conquered in true Christian deejay style. It was barely touching midnight when the man of the moment, Goddy Goddy, came, saw and conquered with a blistering set, much to the delight of those in attendance. After pausing to acknowledge the sponsors of the show, he rounded off what was to be a successfully-staged event with hundreds in attendance.

Goddy Goddy was grateful for the support of the show, especially when people are still recovering from the recent passage of Hurricane Ivan. "I am very, very moved by the gesture shown by everyone here tonight and it shows that mercy is still enduring and the blessings keep pouring in," he said.
