Tivoli look set to drub Pembroke Hall
published: Thursday | November 18, 2004

THE SECOND round of the Western Union/KSAFA Jackie Bell KO continues today with the pick of the matches being National Premier League champions Tivoli Gardens facing Pembroke Hall at Duhaney Park playfield.

Harbour View meet Rockfort in another interesting encounter at Cement Company. Harbour View, however, will be without most of their regular Premier League players.

Other matches in the Western Union $1.7 million KO competition will see Syd Bartlett teams Cooreville Gardens and Meadforest going up against Maverley and August Town at Maverley and Queensbury respectively. All matches start at 3:00 p.m.

Tivoli could be in for a goal feast against Syd Bartlett League team, Pembroke Hall. The biggest wins in the competition so far this season have been Duhaney Park's 8-0 thumping of New Kingston and Arnett Gardens 7-3 victory over Greenwich.

In Monday's action, Real Mona defeated Brown's Town 3-0, Whitfield Town beat Mountain View 1-0, Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) edged Rae Town 2-1 and Meadhaven stopped UWI 3-0.

However, based on how the sponsorship money will be spent this year, everybody benefits. Teams dropping out in the first round take with them $5,000. Sides failing to make it past the second round will get $7,500 while $10,000 will be given to third-round teams that fail to move further.

As teams reach further, things get even sweeter and the quarter-finalists will be given gear valued at $37,000. Naturally, the bigger portions of the pie will be handed out in the semi-finals and final.

The first-place team will pocket $350,000, second $200,000, third $100,000 and fourth $50,000.
