TWO JAMAICA Defence Force (JDF) soldiers who went missing last Thursday during a training session in the Blue Mountains were found yesterday by a JDF search teams.
The rescued soldiers, Lance Corporal Selvin Rose and Private Laxton Ellis, both of the Second Battalion of the Jamaica Regiment (2JR) were found in a state of fatigue and had minor cuts and bruises, according to a JDF release.
The soldiers were taken by helicopter to the Medical Reception Station at Up Park Camp, St. Andrew where they underwent a medical examination. They were later joined by their families who were notified of their rescue.
The soldiers will, however, remain at the medical facilities at Up Park Camp for further observation. Meanwhile, the JDF will be launching a full investigation into the circumstances of the soldiers' disappearance.
The soldiers were part of a 27-man team which departed Up Park Camp on Wednesday for the Blue Mountain Peak, after the group had completed the training exercise up to the Peak and on the return journey, it was discovered that the two soldiers were missing.
Subsequently, several search teams were immediately organised to find the missing soldiers, this included air support and additional ground troops from Up Park Camp.
