Each year the BECA honours outstanding comedians from the UK and around the world. This year, Joseph Marcel, who plays Geoffrey, the butler from the Fresh Prince of Bel Air, was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Jamaica's 'Paleface' was one of the many comedic performers which included Britain's Quincy, Wayne 'Dibbi' Rollins and Kwaku.
Slim who performed at the recent Backyaard Crack-up Comedy Tour, and is "one of the UK's best rising comedians", according to Trevor Walters, BECA founder and director, was honoured with the 'Best Male Comedian' award.
Walters has confirmed that next year's show will feature three new categories, including Best International Caribbean Comedian. This award will be opened to comedians from any Caribbean country. The winner will be flown to England to receive the award and do a guest performance on the night of the awards.
Voting for this category will start from January 1 2005 from the BECA website, www.becaawards.co.uk.
