Saint model Sasha Gaye Hunt
TWO SAINT models, Sasha Gaye Hunt and Shanique Bailey, are simultaneously listed on the ones2watch.com website. The site is one of the fashion industry's trumpets for the hottest new faces to hit the international market. Sasha Gaye is signed to Women Model Management in New York and Paris and Premier in London. Shanique is signed to Planit M.
When contacted, the director/owner of the ones2watch website, Rosie Daly confirmed their inclusion in the list. "I had no idea that they are both from the same agency in Jamaica," she said. "They are both incredible!"
Shanique's face is also the promo for the 'new girls' on the website.
Saint boss Deiwight Peters suggests that "this is definitely consistent with Saint's mission of demonstrating to the world that Jamaican models can be premium fashion faces too".
"We are aiming for the status of Brazil," he said.
HIGH HOPES
Those are high hopes as Brazilian models, at the turn of the century, captured fashion's most illustrious campaigns and magazines. "Many agencies believe it adds cachet to their portfolio to have Brazilian models; the same it will be for Jamaican models," said Peters.
According to Peters, a strong momentum is being built for Sasha Gaye. "She is already requested for the fashion weeks in New York, London, Milan and Paris... I am extremely excited, as I can once again have the fulfilling experience of seeing the amazing transformation of another new model from a shy school girl (from Portmore) to international fashion diva."
It is quite a turn of events as 16 year-old Sasha Gaye, though she was a finalist in the 2004 CVM Faces of Summer Model Search, did not make it to the top eight.
