THE DUDLEY Grant Early Childhood Resource Centre, situated on the Mona campus of the University of the West Indies (UWI), was reopened on Tuesday after being remodelled with funds provided by the Environmental Foundation of Jamaica (EFJ).
A new book, The Early Childhood Movement in Jamaica, was also launched at the reopening ceremony.
Dr. Rose Davies, a member of the management committee of the centre, said the launch of the book and the reopening of the centre go well together, as both are important factors in early childhood development.
"The centre is expected to be a major resource for teachers' colleges and anyone interested in early childhood development, who will be able to make maximum use of the up-to-date technology available here," she said.
Dr. Donald Rhodd, minister of state in the Ministry of Education, Youth and Culture, who was the keynote speaker at the function, said the reopening of the centre was a positive move. "This shows that exciting things are happening in the early childhood sector," he said.
The Dudley Grant Early Childhood Resource Centre is one of 17 resource
centres in the island.
