No Tear looks good

MOLTEN LAVA, one of three winners for in-form apprentice Paul Francis, storms through to win the fifth race (claiming $320,000 - $270,000) over 1400 metres, ahead of SHAHID (Joe Buchanan) at Caymanas Park on Wednesday. TOMORROW'S 10-race programme at Caymanas Park offers a Pick-9 carryover of $1.2 million and with heavy betting anticipated, a payout of close to $2 million looks a real possibility.

Tomorrow's Pick-9 embraces races two to 10, the Super-6 races five to 10. We look at the Super-6.

It gets underway with a restricted allowance II for the Joseph Armond Memorial Cup to be contested by six starters (all three-year-olds) over the circular nine course. The Anthony Nunes-trained CRUISING ALTITUDE was installed a howling favourite for the Trainers' Association Trophy over 1200 metres last Saturday, but disappointed in finishing third to EASTERN LIGHT with OH NO GRANDPA in fifth.

That being his first outing since June, CRUISING ALTITUDE who ran wide into the straight, will have benefitted from the run and given this milder pace, should set off in front and make every yard of the running with former champion Shane Ellis aboard. Next on the programme is a two-year-old maiden condition race over 1100 metres in which 13 starters have been declared, seven of them newcomers.

Many-time champion trainer Philip Feanny saddles as many as four horses, including the debutants KINGSTONIAN and HEAD OF STATE (Winston Griffiths up), the two most forward of the quartet.

By Alisios out of Runaway Native, HEAD OF STATE has worked well and along with fellow debutante EAGLE COMMANDER (also moving well at exercise) should fight out the finish. EAGLE COMMANDER, to be ridden by champion jockey Trevor Simpson for outgoing champion trainer Wayne DaCosta, is well conformed bay colt by Al's River Cat out of Scatterbrain.

The seventh race over 1300 metres should come down to a three-cornered tussle involving VISIONARY (regaining form), NO TEAR (back to her happy hunting ground) and the recent course winner SIR KISSON LAL, now up in class. NO TEAR gets the vote.

Simpson should all win the eight with MYBLUELLE and ninth with ROYAL MALICE, both very fit.
