THE EDITOR, Sir: IMAGINE MY surprise when I logged online to read the Jamaican newspapers and I saw that Omar Davies has launched his bid for leader of the PNP at a sports bar. How classy.
I thought maybe it was a practical joke but it turns out that the headline was real and the most disturbing part was that there were intelligent people like Peter Bunting singing praises and supporting Omar Davies' run for leader of the PNP.
Minister Davies also spoke of his vision for change in Jamaica, which I think most people want, just not for the worst. Some of the quotes from the article would really be amusing if not for the serious economic black hole that our dear Minister of Finance has failed miserably at getting out off.
"Over the 11 years as finance minister, I found a formula, and want you to join with us in building a strong economy," said Davies.
Maybe he could share his formula with the country before he even thinks of a leadership position because all he has shown so far is an amazing talent for failure and arrogance in believing that he has actually accomplished anything in his position as minister of finance.
Let us get serious and talk about accountability and success, both of which Omar Davies has never seen or even been close to, before looking for a leader of the PNP and Jamaica. Heaven help us all.
I am etc.,
