THE EDITOR, Sir:
WELL, THE final day of reckoning has come and gone. The more important traits that would have afforded Miss Jamaica some insurmountable leverage in the Miss World contest were alas lacking.
I, nonetheless, will give credit where credit is due, and extend my heartiest of congratulations on the achievement of obtaining a scholarship. Yes, the 'brains' really paid off. But Tonoya Toyloy was not a 'complete package'. She was the brainiest, but not the most beautiful of the bunch.
So Jamaica, what do you think would have been a better trade off? A brainy Miss Jamaica with a 'somewhat' attractive look, or a stunning, dazzling and stupendous Miss Jamaica of average intelligence?
The next time we choose our contestants, let's keep the above traits in mind. This time, let us at least adapt a more common-sense and reliable approach towards determining who represents our country.
I am, etc.,
LATOYA MORRIS
