FOLLOWING HIS announced early retirement from the police force, former Deputy Commissioner Owen Clunie said he has received offers but will use the next few months to reflect and critically review all options.
"I am an attorney, I have
excellent training in the field of security and I consider myself a professional. I have learnt to manage disappointment despite the injustice meted out to me. I have risen above it because I don't need to hug hate."
He recalled the death of his only brother, explaining that the fact that it happened when he (Clunie) was going through all kinds of problems, traumatised family members to the point where one of his sons failed all his CXC subject and refused to continue at the school he had been attending.
"Several of my family members cried uncontrollably at times and were it not for my constant reassurance that the accusations were false, they would have given in. Many friends ridiculed me for remaining silent but there is value in silence and patience is a virtue," DCP Clunie said.
Mr. Clunie said his wife deserves credit for her support because at one time she became the villan and target of conspirators when their efforts against him failed. "I discovered the true meaning of friendship because when the dust settled, only a handful of friends were left standing by my side," he added.
