THE EDITOR, Sir:PLEASE ALLOW us to express the heartfelt appreciation of the management and staff of Hammond's Pastry Place and Kings Valley Meats to the members of the Jamaica Fire Brigade, the members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, Grange Hill, the Sugar Company of Jamaica Fire Response Unit and the residents of Grange Hill for their assistance in extinguishing the fire at premises of Hammond's Pastry Place, Grange Hill on Friday December 17, 2004.
This trying experience has allowed us the opportunity to view, firsthand, the intrinsic courage and kindness of the human spirit. The members of the Constabulary Forceand the Fire Brigade, despite being poorly equipped and lacking the basic tools required to effectively perform their job, were unswerving in their commitment to carry out their duties and professionally performed their functions notwithstanding the adversity, criticism, and at times, even the ridicule of some onlookers.
For your efforts gentlemen, we thank you. We would like to thank and commend the Sugar Company of Jamaica's Fire Response Unit for lending their competent assistance to the Jamaica Fire Brigade in putting out the blaze and preventing what could have been a more devastating and tragic event.
To the residents of Grange Hill and surrounding communities who came to our assistance
during our time of need we would like to say, "Thank You." And to the gentleman called Rambo who bravely assisted the fire fighters in their efforts, a special thank you. Finally, to all our customers, friends and well-wishers we thank you all for your support and wish for you all a merry Christmas and a happy, prosperous New Year.
