Praises for Ian Boyne
published: Friday | December 24, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

KINDLY ALLOW me to express grateful acknowledgement to veteran journalist Ian Boyne on receiving the prestigious Morris Cargill award.

I am an ardent reader of Mr. Boyne's articles in The Sunday Gleaner. In an era where integrity, honesty, and balanced opinions are often sacrificed at the expense of popularity. Ian Boyne can be counted on to stick to the ideals of professional journalism.

Ian Boyne in my view is the best writer in the Caribbean and by far the best journalist in the print media in Jamaica. I mean no disrespect to John Maxwell and Ricky Singh both of whom I have tremendous amount of respect for.

Ian Boyne is the perfect example of what a good journalist should be: he is never afraid to express his opinion on controversial issues, but always stays with the facts. His honesty, consistent research and intellectual depth is what makes him such an outstanding journalist.

As one of Mr. Boyne's loyal readers, I want to publicly congratulate him on his recent achievement. I trust that providence will have it that this great journalist will remain with the number one newspaper in Jamaica for many years to come. Keep up the good work Mr. Ian Boyne and have a happy Christmas when it comes.

I am, etc.,

ANDRÉ A. WELLINGTON
