IN A recent television interview, I was asked to share my thoughts on the topic of 'Possibilities'. During the course of the interview, I challenged myself to write an article that would assist interested persons in bringing their life possibilities into expression.
First, I want to emphasise that life's possibilities exist for everyone. No one is 'outside' of the realm of a new life experience. No matter how terrible or awful you believe your life has been, new possibilities exist for you. If you believe your life is good, know that your life can always be better.
Growth happens when the mind is open to new possibilities. A closed mind is a sure sign of 'death'. Death to new ideas, death to new experiences and death to new opportunities to see life 'afresh' with solutions to life's problems. A closed mind is the forerunner to a life that is 'stuck in the mud'. Stay open to new ways of living your life and making a contribution to the wider world.
IF YOU DREAM IT, IT CAN HAPPEN
Second, the possibilities exist in the form of a desire in the depths of your heart. Perhaps it is a dream that you have never spoken of because you have no idea how your dream will ever come true. Be assured of this, if you can dream it, it can happen. Why would the Creator give you a dream if there did not also exist a plan for bringing the dream into expression? With your every experience, whether you label it good or bad, know that you are being shaped into the person who will bring the dream alive. All the people you meet, all the experiences you have, come to teach you something you will need to know in order to bring the possibility or dream into reality.
So, get a note pad or journal and write down your thoughts, feelings and the lessons learned from the experiences you have had or are having right now. The lessons you learn are the blessings the experience has granted to you. Like Jacob in the Bible, wrestle with your highest possibility (your angel) and do not let it go until it blesses you (reveals to you its secret).
BELIEVE IN THE DREAM
Third, you must believe in the dream or possibility. Many people dream but they do not believe in the dream. Because they do not believe it can happen, they do nothing to bring the dream into reality. Instead, they spend their days rejoicing in the dreams of others. They believe that other people have something that they don't have. As a result, other people always seem to be ahead. This is a dangerous mindset. It leads you to believe that someone has 'your stuff'. When you believe this, you'll do anything to get 'your stuff' back, including paying someone money to do harm to another. If you have a dream, the least you can do is believe that it can come true.
DO THE WORK
Fourth, you must be willing to do the work required to bring the dream into expression. Talking alone will not get the dream out of your heart and into your experience. Many people talk, talk, talk and never get to the real work that must be done. There is a telephone call to be made, a resume to update, a 'hunch' that must be followed, a letter to write or a closet that needs to be cleared of clutter.
Many people are 'busy' doing something. The question to ask is, 'Am I doing what I need to do to get where I want to go?' If not, stop yourself. Begin to do the thing that will get you the results you want. I could have 'thought about' writing this article for a year, but if I never put pen to paper or finger to the computer, you would not be reading this article in this newspaper today. The best way to finish anything is to START! Start now to do what you need to do to get your dream in gear.
EVERY DREAM HAS A PRICE TAG
Lastly, you must be willing to pay the price to bring the dream or possibility into reality. Every dream has a price tag. That is the cost for the benefit of living the dream. Life offers no free rides. The price tag is not necessarily in dollars, it may be your sweat, energy, determination, courage or your ability to go through the storms of life. A price tag in the form of money is often the easiest price to pay.
Many are unwilling to pay a price that requires steadfastness in holding to the dream in the face of circumstances that knock them down, drag them through the mud and cause people to call them crazy. Whatever the price tag, you must be willing to pay it to achieve you highest possibility.
There is no short cut. Pay the price.
In summary, know that life has no favourite children. We are all able to catch the possibility for our lives as we follow the dream in our heart and are willing to pay the price to achieve the higher possibility that our heart tells us is our own.
