THE EDITOR, Sir:
I write in response to a letter from Michael Dingwall and published in the Gleaner of December 22, 2004 with the caption 'Where are the auditors?"
Let me assure Mr. Dingwall that all game draws and the entire lottery operations are closely supervised by the Betting, Gaming & Lotteries Commission (BGLC), as well as independent auditors - Deloitte & Touche. While the auditors and BGLC Representatives are not seen on TV during the game draws, they are all physically present in the studio and integrally involved from 1 1/2 hours before the draw, when the pre-draw process begins with the random selection of one machine from a pool of 19 and the random selection of one ball case from a pool of 34, at each draw.
The random selection of draw machines and ball cases at each draw is a significant component in preserving the integrity of the game draw process. In addition, the Draw Announcer makes the following statement, "Welcome to tonight's combined live draw, which is under the supervision of the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Commission and the independent auditors, Deloitte & Touche," before any ball is selected during the broadcast of game draws.
HIGH STANDARD
Our company maintains a high standard of integrity with respect to our operations and as such has conducted LIVE game draws from inception. We wish to assure Mr. Dingwall that the public is always welcome to view the draw process and take this opportunity to invite him to contact us, to arrange it.
Let me take this opportunity on behalf of the Supreme Ventures team to wish for all a happy and productive New Year!
